OUR CLUBS

The Allied Health Professionals Society (AHPS) focuses on educating, connecting, and inspiring Laurier students looking to pursue careers in the allied health professional field. The AHPS aims to inform students of 2-3 different career options per meeting, helping expand students’ knowledge on the other areas they can take their degree. Bi-weekly, members will attend sessions that include career profiles, customized routes to achieve each profession, day-in-the-life videos, and career cruising resources. Among each other, members will discuss what they have learned to expand their knowledge and grow their passion for the importance of careers in allied health. To connect with the AHPS and get the most out of being part of the society, members can message the AHPS on Instagram @ahps_wlu with career suggestions for the next meeting. 

Alzheimer's Society Laurier is designed to encourage Wilfrid Laurier University students to be proactive in helping their ill community and discover their role in combating health crises.  This club is designed to raise awareness on the harsh reality and prevalent nature of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia among the Canadian community. It also aims to inform students about current ongoing research and treatment methods being implemented as well as providing a sense of community among Wilfrid Laurier students. Ultimately, our intention is to fundraise directly to Alzheimer’s Society of Canada to fund their Alzheimer’s disease research.

Bioethics Initiative is a club working to raise awareness about bioethical issues in the school community. Our goal is to promote discussion and debate about real-life issues that exist in health care, acknowledging the principles of bioethics. Bioethics Initiative aims to campaign for some pressing issues in bioethics today. We also hope to bring together like-minded individuals to discuss their views on bioethics and promote global mindedness. 

The Canadian Undergraduate Conference on Healthcare (CUCOH) is the largest healthcare conference in Canada. The conference is hosted annually by Queen's University (Kingston, ON) with participation from 360 of Canada's top students from over 25 universities. The conference provides students with the opportunity to engage in healthcare-related workshops and discussions with healthcare experts, to showcase the unique and multidisciplinary nature of healthcare. 

HawkHacks is a computer-science based club that will be hosting an annual 36-hour hackathon event for hundreds of computing students across Ontario. During this event, students will be able to hear from and network with sponsors and partners from the tech industry and showcase their programming skills.

Our main objectives are to help students make new connections with their peers and potential employers as well as to give them a real-world coding experience that you simply cannot get from within the classroom. We will also be looking to exhibit the talent that exists within Laurier's computer science program and demonstrate the great things that come out of Laurier's many CS-based clubs.

HErVOLUTION Laurier is a versatile club devoted primarily to helping the less-fortunate women in our society both financially and insitutionally so that they are able to pursue STEM-based educations and careers, in collaboration with the charity hErVOLUTION. Our club hosts fundraising events such as trivia nights and sports competitions, creative drives and donation events, as well as form connections with other faculties and groups within the community to spread awareness and increase involvement in this movement. HErVOLUTION Laurier also works unanimously with the founder of the hErVOLUTION foundation to develop the Ambassador Program within the charity, recruit members, and increase involvement in the cause. Our mission is ultimately to create a lasting, prominent impact in the lives of the many girls who are unable to pursue an education in STEM, be it due to gender inequality or financial barriers. All proceeds from fundraisers go directly towards the charity, as well as its programs and initiatives. 

HOSA is the largest health science student organization in North America. HOSA is a National Case Competition for the Health Sciences, allowing students to participate in competition-based events at the annual national conference, the Spring Leadership Conference (SLC). As a HOSA member, students are provided with opportunities to learn about various healthcare careers beyond medicine and the healthcare industry as a whole while they prepare for and compete in one of the 15 post-secondary competitive events. 

Kin Kouncil is a dedicated group of students who aim and continuously look for new ways to expand, learn, and grow within our tight knit community. Through networking and academic events we strive to bring the best experiences possible to Kinesiology and like-minded students. Promoting the development of relationships between not only peers in the classroom, but students in all years, as well as assisting to strengthen the student-staff relationships through a variety of events, Kin Kouncil aims to be the guiding hand in all of our members' successes.

Laurier Computing Society is a computer science-based club that seeks to create new initiatives and events in the vast field of computer science for the student body regardless of program. From academic to social, we hope to bring our departments together into a close community. Our main objectives are to enrich and enhance student's academic experiences and foster a sense of community through social events. We look to create initiatives and events to involve students in society to improve and challenge themselves.

The purpose of Laurier Fintech is to foster a community for individuals passionate about financial technologies. We aim to empower students by offering access to networking opportunities, and resources, including courses, fintech newsletters, and informative posts. Through OpenFintech, our open-source program, we promote the development of financial technologies in the academic space. Furthermore, we encourage students to explore and develop practical skills through challenges and hackathons. Above all, we strive to create a community that inspires collaboration and growth within the fintech industry.

Through these activities you will learn more about innovative and modern topics in STEAM, gain a stronger appreciation and will for innovation, and have a great time making new friends in an encouraging and warm environment.

Welcome to the Laurier Music Med Club!

We aim to break boundaries between music, healthcare, and science! Music Med studies how different forms of music and sound can be used to treat a variety of illnesses and the science behind this! In the future, we hope to have meditation nights, career information sessions, music research competitions, and much more! Join us to learn all there is about music medicine!

The purpose of the Laurier Psychology Society is to promote Psychology as an academic discipline on campus, as well as to raise awareness about mental health on campus and throughout the community. We achieve these goals by planning and hosting events/fundraisers/talks. For example, we host an event called "Meet the Profs" every semester to allow students and professors to connect and network outside of the classroom. Another event, entitled "Mind on Mental Health", entails the Society inviting mental health professionals from the community to come and discuss their careers and experiences with mental health. We also take an active role in promoting student success by facilitating exam de-stressors as well as study-strategy workshops. 

The Society is made up of an executive team (i.e., President, Vice-President, and a handful of executives) who are responsible for planning and facilitating the events.  Anyone interested in an executive role should pay attention to their emails around the springtime as every position is available. General Members are those who partake in our events. If one comes out to at least one event a semester, this status will be reflected on your Laurier Experience Record.

Laurier STEM Publishing Society (LSPS) is made of many science and publishing passionate Waterloo campus students. Our objective is to promote a welcoming environment for students in STEM that are interested in publishing in any field by discussing publication processes. 

We want to provide support for students by having monthly discussion portals to contribute to each other's publishing goals and editorial support from publishing companies and experiences individuals. 

We hope to work with other clubs of aligned interest and bring in guest speakers in the writing industry to build connections. Most importantly, we look forward to making life-long relationships with like-minded people!  🔬🥼💻📈💡
