The Executive Team

The Executive Team has been completely filled for the 2015/2016 academic year. Stay tuned in March 2016 for 2016/2017 Executive Team applications. Check out the job descriptions and who's currently filling each position below!

1. President and Chair: This person is the principle spokesperson of FOSSA. He/She is responsible for overseeing the FOSSA Executive Team. The president serves as the face of FOSSA at all undergraduate events within the Faculty of Science and other departments at Laurier. He/She may also perform any other duties as assigned by the Executive Team.

2. Executive Vice-President: This person is responsible for the administration of the organization, supervising and enforcing strict rules and guidelines of the club as explained in the FOSSA Constitution, and mediating between the president and the rest of the FOSSA Executive Team. He/She must attend and participate in weekly meetings. He/She is liable for managing FOSSA Research Assistant Scholarships to encourage student involvement in undergraduate research with a supervising professor at the university. He/She may also perform any other duties as assigned by the Executive Team.

4. VP of Clubs and Associations: He/She may also perform any other duties as assigned by the Executive Team.

4. VP of Finance: The person in this position is responsible for advising the Executive Team on all financial matters of FOSSA.
He/She must prepare and present the FOSSA budget to the Executive Team for pre-approval prior to its consideration by the Council and keep proper accounts and records in a succinct and organized business-like manner. It is expected that this person prepare and present to the Executive a monthly accounting report in addition to preparing a year-end financial statement before May 1st of the academic year. He/She may also perform any other duties as assigned by the Executive Team.

5. VP of Events: The responsibilities of this position include planning events hosted by FOSSA including Science Olympics and Science Formal. They are to organize schedules for promotional events including the Get Involved Fair, recruit volunteer committees as needed to help execute events, and work with the marketing executives to develop promotional materials. He/She may also perform any other duties as assigned by the Executive Team.

ARCHIVED POSITIONS

1. VP of Internal: The responsibilities of the person in this role include taking attendance at every Executive Team and Council meeting as well as to derive a copy detailed minutes of each meeting and submit them to the Executive for approval. He/She may also perform any other duties as assigned by the Executive Team.

2. VP of External: The person taking on this position is responsible for receiveing communications and reports from FOSSA-affiliated clubs, members of FOSSA, and other individuals or groups related to FOSSA and FOSSA’s activities in addition to acting as a liason between all the affiliated clubs, obtaining their budgets, and ensuring that events go as planned. He/She may also perform any other duties as assigned by the Executive Team.

3. Marketing and Merchandise Executive: He/She may also perform any duties as assigned by the Executive Team.

5. Communications Representative: The responsibilities of the person in this role include coordinating with all FOSSA team members in regards to internal affairs, such as communicating Executive Team and Council meeting locations and times, as well as taking detailed minutes of each meeting, and recording attendance. He/She is also responsible for receiving communications and reports from FOSSA-affiliated clubs, members of FOSSA, and other individuals or groups related to FOSSA and FOSSA’s activities in addition to acting as a liason between all the affiliated clubs, obtaining their budgets, and ensuring that events go as planned. He/She may also perform any other duties as assigned by the Executive Team.

Constituency Representatives

Interested in becoming a Constituency Representative? What do constituency reps do and who are the current reps? Look below.

Constituency Representative: Those students taking on this role are responsible for voting on affairs and proposals discussed during meetings with the intention of bettering student life in the Faculty of Science at Wilfrid Laurier University. They are also to act as a liaison with FOSSA-affiliated clubs and any standing committees of FOSSA and be responsible for the internal functions of FOSSA, throughout the Association and within the Executive Team. He/She may also perform any other duties as assigned by the Executive Team.

A recent change was made to the FOSSA constitution where respective departmental Club Presidents are now Constituency Representatives for their department.
